Raiders lose hard fought games last week
Both the Varsity and JV teams lost both games last week in hard fought battles with Tahoma and Kentwood. Although both teams lost, there was significant progress in our play as teams and individuals.
Players of the week
Lindsey Dahl has earned player of the week for the Varsity Team. Lindsey Dahl scored both goals against Tahoma this week and came within inches of a hat trick. Only a sophomore, we look for many more goals from Lindsey in the future. Congratulations Lindsey.
There are two players of the week for the JV team this week. The coaching staff would like to recognize Alexis Ganuelas and Krista Nakamura for the stellar defense against two strong teams. Alexis, played a great game on tuesday even though she had been sick the day before. In the game on thursday, Krista took charge of the defense and helped the Raiders play tough against a good Kentwood team. Congratulations girls.
open the season with split decisions
Both the Varsity and JV teams went 1-1 in their first week of league play. Both teams lost tough battles to Kentlake, but picked up hard fought wins against Auburn.
Players of the week
Lauren Jerde has earned player of the week for the Varsity Team. Lauren played both as a defender and forward this past week, scoring two goals against Auburn, the last one being the game winner. Congratulations Lauren.
Peyton Tamayo is the JV player of the week. Peyton, a Sophomore forward, scored one of our three goals against Auburn. Congratulations Peyton on a successful first week of soccer.
OPENS WITH A SUCCESSFUL JAMBOREE
Both the JV and Varsity teams opened the season with successful games in their preseason Jamborees. The JV team went 1-1 in their 2 games beating Auburn on a Bailey Bonaci goal off a corner kick and losing to Kentlake in a hard fought battle. Thanks to all the girls who “VOLUNTEERED” to play goal this weekend.
The Varsity team went 2-0 beating both Rogers and White River. Lindsey Dahl became the newest member of the ALL TIME HEROS list by scoring the lone goal against Rogers with a header. Hannah Friedman scored the winning goal against White River on a penalty kick. The girls played well and had many opportunities to score if not for a pesky crossbar or the well placed face of a White River defender.
All in all, it was a successful weekend for the TJ Girls Soccer program. Good luck with the start of the season.

Raiders lose in wcd playoffs
Sadly the 2008 season for TJ Girls Soccer came to an end Saturday at Mount Tahoma Stadium. The 2-0 loss to Bellermine eliminated the Raiders from post season play. It was a sad way to end the season, but the future looks bright for TJ Soccer.
University of Portland Trip
Sunday October 19th, members of the Raider Girls Soccer team traveled to see the University of Portland women’s team play Pepperdine. It was a great experience for the girls to see such high level competition. The University of Portland won the game 2-1. Thank you to all the parents who drove, the trip would not have been possible without you.
